Discover Alfie’s magical world during the summer holidays.
Celebrate summer at the Alfie Atkins’ Cultural Centre. Make new friends and explore the magical world of Alfie Atkins. It is home to the higrise block where Alfie lives, the awful monster, the helicopter and, of course Milla, Malcolm and all the others. There’s always something happening here, such as theatre, storytelling music, och other program activities. .
The centre’s scenery and activities are based on Gunilla Bergström’s books about Alfie Atkins and support children’s development and rights through play, reading, and learning. It’s a place where both young and old can feel at home and have fun together!

During the month of July, students from the Academy of Music and Drama at the University of Gothenburg will perform as actors in our theatre. We have three popular shows in our repertoire that will be performed frequently: Who Will Save Alfie Atkins?, Good Night, Alfie Atkins, and What Did Daddy Atkins Say? Don’t miss Gunilla Bergström’s studio

Did you know that Alfie Atkins Cultural Centre has recreated parts of Gunilla Bergström’s studio? Here, you can explore original furnishings, working materials, sketches, awards and distinctions, as well as fascinating memorabilia that offer insight into her artistic work and creative process.
Gunilla Bergström (1942–2021), born and raised in Gothenburg, was the illustrator and author behind the stories of Alfie Atkins—now a beloved classic for millions of children in many countries around the world.
Collaboration behind the exhibition

“G as in Gunilla” was made possible through a collaboration between Alfie Atkins’ Cultural Center, Barnutställningar AB, and Bok-Makaren AB, with support from the Swedish Arts Council.
“Gunilla had so much energy. Her entire studio reflected this energy, curiosity, humor, and creative joy, which we hope will inspire both children and adults who visit the center,” says Sofia Torell of Bok-Makaren AB and niece of Gunilla Bergström.
